|Many years ago in the far away land of ancient Greece, a clumsy young boy grows up to realise his potential of being a God by performing life-saving deeds for the community of non-believers. However, the evil Lord Hades is keen to deny the boy his ambition by tempting him with a beautiful woman, sent to lure him into death before he can reach his 18th birthday.
A strange step forward in the style of animation for this, the 35th full length animated movie from Disney, but it's a great ride, with a selection of wonderful voice-overs, nonemoreso than the brilliantly on-form James Woods.
Followed by a straight-to-video release a year later, Hercules: Zero To Hero.
Disney's 36th official animated feature, Mulan, followed in 1998.
